My younger sister is in Montreal and has tried a few sushi places to no avail. Her and her boyfriend are now looking for some of the better restaurants that serve it in Montreal. Any suggestions? I don't think she is too picky, as long as the menu has great, fresh sushi like the places we have here in North Carolina!
My go-to spot for great sushi in Montreal is off the beaten path but really great: Tri Express.
It's a really small place that doesn't look fancy at all, but it's run by Tri Du, a famous Montreal sushi chef who makes amazing, innovative stuff.
Here's an article about him:

My favourite sushi restaurant I'd Mikado, Laurier (or Monkland Taverne). Sushi chef Kimio creates sushi with creativity and perfection. Ingredients are local, organic and best quality. Ambiance is wonderful whether you sit at sushi counter or you reserve a tatami room. A must. Do ask Kimio what he suggests to order. Enjoy.
