Mission District, San Francisco

Looking for a pizza spot for Saturday night with a group of 4 friends

Looking for a moderately priced pizza place, I'm from the midwest so California style would be great.  Any place in the Mission District of San Francisco?

Pizzeria Delfina at 3621 18th St, San Francisco, CA 94110. I personally recommend the "Panna" pizza http://pizzeriadelfina.com/mission - You should also get the Saffron Arancini as an appetizer. They're mini cheesy rice balls and come 4 to a plate, so it's perfect to share.

Pizzeria Delfina at 18th & Guerrero. Long wait but def worth it! You can also try Little Star Pizza at 15th & Valencia. It's known for it's deep dish but they have good thin crust, too.

The number 1 place in the Mission for pizza is probably Pizzeria Delfina, but I've always loved Beretta too.  Those two spots can certainly go beyond "moderately priced" but you can always order Delfina pizza to-go, buy a bottle of wine from the Bi-Rite market next door and go eat your food at Dolores Park - great way to keep the price down!

Jeanne D is right. For a reasonably priced pizza with elbow room for hanging out with friends, Pauline's Pizza & Wine Bar is it. Pizzeria Delfina is great for a boozy late Friday lunch or to get you in the mood for the weekend. But it's busy and compact and if you want a conversation you better know sign language. Pauline's is busy too -- you'll have to sign up for a table -- but there are more of them (tables). And the pizza is mighty fine.

Pizzeria Delfina in the Mission is great. Tony’s Pizza Napoletana in Northbeach is the best!

Pauline's Pizza & Wine Bar. Definitively!

On a different note, I see you're in Peoria. I lived in East Peoria (Gemantown Hills) a bunch of years ago. Fond memories!

The closest you'll find to California style pizza in the Mission are two Italian places -- Beretta and Pizzeria Delfina (not to be mistaken with their Italian restaurant that's just "Delfina"), and also Pauline's Pizza & Wine Bar.  All have great food and drink menus.

I know you're coming from Illinois, but another pizza place worth checking out is Little Star Pizza.  They're known for their Chicago style stuffed pizza, and they use cornmeal in their crust.  So good!I feel like just the pizza itself at all of these places are moderately priced.  It's just when you add cocktails, wine, other entrees, etc, that it can get expensive, especially at Beretta.

For a Saturday night for 4, whichever place you choose, try to get there as early as possible, preferably at opening.  Otherwise, there'll be a wait, even if you made reservations.  Beretta and Pizzeria Delfina are packed on weekday nights, so you can only imagine what it's like on weekends.

FYI, a lot of San Franciscans will put up with long waits for good food.  Good thing there are tons of good bars in the Mission to wait it out ;)

Little Star Pizza for fantastic deep dish or Pauline's Pizza & Wine Bar for more traditional California type pizza.  They're only a couple block from each other so you can walk by and see which fits your needs better.

Though its actually not in the mission Ragazza just up the road in the lower Haight is a favorite. Neighborhood spot with a reasonably priced wine list and some interesting pizzas with things like wild nettles and preserved lemon.

Try Zero Zero.

Get the Castro Pizza and top it up with a vanilla & olive oil ice cream.
