Planning on spending a few weeks in Michigan this summer and was wondering where the best areas are to do some camping? Of course, we're looking to be by the lake and like more nature in the surrounding area. Where would be the best place for this?
Try Pinconning or Oscoda County on Lake Huron.
Try Charlevoix or Traverse City on Lake Michigan
Try Ontonagon or Copper Harbor on Lake Superior
Try Luna Pier on Lake Erie but you will need shots to go in the lake.
Try Mount Clemens on Lake St Clair
Try Algonac State Park at the mouth of the St Clair River In Algonac.

Anywhere near Lake Michigan is beautiful (Traverse city area) has a ton of different places you can camp and is one of the most amazing cities in Michigan. Also, I would suggest checking out Sleeping Bear Dunes, it was ranked one of the world's most beautiful places and you really feel like you are somewhere tropical when you are there. The sand is perfect and the water is crystal clear blue - literally Pure Michigan at it's finest.
If you are traveling near the UP, Pictured Rocks is definitely a place I would put on the bucket list as well.
I grew up on Lake Huron on the thumb in Michigan and I love it there too. If you are thinking about that area I would suggest checking out Lexington or Port Austin. There's a State Park campground in Lakeport Michigan that I used to camp at as a kid a ton and really loved it there too.
Hope this helps!
