What would you recommend as must-sees in Miami, Florida? I am particularly interested in cultural items, history, and the offbeat.
Go to the Deering Estatein Palmetto Bay a very low-key mansion built in the early 20th century by John Deering (Deer Tractors). It is on a very lush area of land right on Biscayne Bay with a great view and nature trails.

Wynwood for interesting galleries and artsy stuff, Miami Beach for the Art Deco architecture and ambience (+ fantastic beach), Little Havana for some Latin way of life and good food, lots of things to do in Miami!

Calle Ocho- the whole Cuban area has a lot there to see and walk around. Eating in this area is also a big plus. Go to Vizcaya Museum and Gardens a beautiful mansion from the 1920's. Visit Coconut Grove (Florida), South Beach, Coral Gables, Key Biscayne

You could try the Neptune Memorial Reef which is essentially an underwater cemetery. You could also try the World Erotic Art Museum which is pretty much what it sounds like.
