I'm a vegetarian who is set to travel to Memphis for four days this fall with a friend who probably hasn't had a meatless meal in his life. We've decided to alternate between a place for him and a place for me (although we'll probably each starve every other night) so can anyone give me some good tips about where to get great BBQ for him and some veggies for me?
I am a vegetarian in Memphis, so I've found a few places that will please both the vegetarians and the meat eaters in my life. Central BBQ has a delicious portabella sandwich marinated in BBQ sauce, so you'll kind of get the Memphis BBQ experience. Trolley Stop Market at 704 Madison Avenue has an amazing garden burger among other vegetarian and vegan options. Though I've never been there myself, I have heard DeJAVU has some good vegetarian food as well.

You will be surprised to learn that Memphis BBQ places have meatless meals. They are not always on the menu so be sure to ask. Central BBQ (multiple locations) has a great portobello mushroom sandwich.
