Katie from Lake District National Park asked

Couple of hours to kill in Manchester city centre - recommendations?

Hi -

In a couple of weeks, I'm going to be in Manchester for around 2 hours on a Saturday morning. I don't really want to go shopping - I'd rather see / do something interesting. Either a big attraction, or something a bit more off the beaten path.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

K :-)

I spent a good bit of time in People's History Museum was a great place for learning about UK history as well as a cuppa afterwards.  Northern Quarter is good for boutique shops, bars and food.

i would recommend the Manchester Art Gallery, free, and full of many many interesting exhibitions, and a beautiful building as well, 3 minute walk from Piccadilly gardens
