Can't decide which islands to visit in Malaysia? Looking for somewhere less touristy and more serene with local culture. Thanks!
From the sound of what you are after.. You NEED to go to the Perhentian Islands. Stunning beaches and perfect for either escaping tourists. Please let me know if you want any more information and I'd love to help you out. I've wrote about the islands in a bit more detail on my blog if you want to check that out http://travel-slice.com/perhentian-travel-blog/
No question about it - you need to go to the Pulau Perhentian for a tropical paradise. We loved Bubbles Dive Resort with its own beach and turtle conservation project & dive school. But being on the East side Malaysia check the weather for your time of year of travel. Langkawi is so built up compared to twenty years ago - you'll need to hire transport to get off the beaten track. Some lovely places away from the main strip of Pantai Cenang (great jet ski tours to the other islands from here though).

Tioman Island is a good choice if you want beautiful sceneries. You can also visit beautiful waterfalls on the island. You can check this link for your guide http://www.travel141.com/malaysia/guide-top-10-best-malaysia-beaches/.
