Mary from Leicester

Maidwell UK is a very small English village with a population of maybe 500-600.

Parts of the village church (St Mary the Virgin), including the tower, date from the 11/1200s. There are a few fairly old (mostly 18/1900s) buildings in the historical village centre, plus a small village school, and a pub (The Stag) and a larger number of new-build houses along and just off the A508.  Maidwell Hall (1600s) is not open to the public; it's a private school.

As with most English villages, there are public footpaths leading from the village into the surrounding countryside.

If you have a car, getting to NorthamptonLeicester and Market Harborough is easy. All three places are worth a visit. The village is on the bus route between Northampton and Market Harborough.

I wouldn't say Maidwell is 'worth a stop' for itself but the pub does food & accomm and it would make an ok base for exploring the area with a car.
