Heading to Madison and I'm looking for the best restaurants to try while I'm visiting. Open to all types of food! What are your top places to eat?
Harvest, Avenue Club and The Bubble Up Bar, The Spot (excellent food!), Lazy Jane's Cafe and Bakery (breakfast, cash only), Monsoon Siam.

The Great Dane Pub & Brewing Co & The Old Fashioned both are similar Wisconsin restaurants. Be sure to try the deep fried cheese curds!
Mentioned in this answer:
The Old Fashioned with their signature burgers using local ingredients, Great Dane Pub & Brewing Co for local craft beer, L'Etoile with famous Chef Tori Miller, Sardine, great good with the lake view, Ha Long Bay (good Vietnamese food) they are all in downtown Madison. These are the restaurants I like and also voted best in Madison. You will get more information on the Isthmus Dining 2015.

I would highly recommend five restaurants - but you will find Madison is a great foodie town!
First A Pig In A Fur Coat on Williamson St (Willy St to locals!). They feature small plates in a casual atmosphere. I would highly recommend the Rabbit Rillette and the Pork Belly. Nice wine selection also.
Right down the street is a place called Alchemy. Great pub food and local craft beers! Stick around for some live music after dinner.
The Forequarter is a great farm to table type restaurant - you are never sure what might be on the menu - but it is sure to be delicious.
Cento is a newer restaurant in town. Fabulous Italian style dinners, pizza and a great wine selection.
And finally Osteria Papavero is a smaller, rustic Italian place right off the capital square. They cure their own meats and will always have something adventurous on the menu. I would highly recommend the salumi board!
Enjoy your visit!
