We are 2A and a 13yo daughter planning a road trip for July next year.
We like outdoor activities including swimming, hiking, canoeing or rafting, good coffee and food and don't like 10 hour stretches in the car.
Also we are hoping to see some typical American diners along the way and as our budget is not really restricted, we would love some cool, alternate accommodation if possible.
A route and points of interest would be invaluable to our planning.
Thanks in advance
I have not done this trip since I was 10 and we drove from visiting my great uncle in Madison to Colorado (so we went the other way). I don't remember exactly how it went (and I don't know about diners), but I am pretty sure we went from Denver up through Fort Collins Then we went up to Yellowstone, but that's a bit out of the way. So maybe just go up to Rapid City in the Black Hills and then go through Badlands National Park. Wall (South Dakota) had a very famous drugstore. I think we went to Saint Paul (Minnesota) too.

I have stayed at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Madison. It was fabulous. A wonderful experience. Sign up for hotel rewards of a signature brand and accumulate nights on the journey. Open the brand credit card for free options as well.
