I like the Hampton Inns (free breakfast, free internet, free parking, outdoor pool), and there is a reasonable one across the street from the Comfort Inn. The only thing against that Hampton Inn is that there is no restaurant that I could walk to, although there are several restaurants in that area. The Holiday Inn (across the street) has a Denny's
You can start with this page on Trippy for hotels in Lumberton. To stay close to the highway, there are a bunch of options at the intersection of I-95 and NC 211. I think that's a good area with a couple restaurants nearby too. Check out:
