Hi,

I had a coworker who would make the 4 hour drive twice a week from LA to our office in Vegas. She didn't mind but definitely made sure to time it outside of rush hour times.

I hope that helps,

In Las Vegas, the downtown area has much better prices than the strip hotel/casinos. Restaurants are also more reasonable.

There are so many deals on hotels in Las Vegas.  I highly recommend you check the city website lasvegas.com.  The hotel prices change constantly.  You might get a really good deal if you are willing to sit through a timeshare pitch.  Try the Hilton Vacations Club, there are 3 Hiltons in Las Vegas and they are all very nice.  If you call Hilton to book a room, they might connect you to a deal where you get a $200 in coupons off a 2 night stay.  Stay away from the fancy hotels.  Las Vegas is very small and no matter where you are staying you can see everything in a short amount of time.  Before you go see who is performing.  There is also so much free entertainment in hotel lounges, and you can hear great music and dance for free.  Enjoy your trip.

When you say cheapest you mean the best price for your money right?? because you could go to the Motel 6 near the airport in Las Vegas be close to the strip and spend maybe $35-$50 per night.  best value hotels are probably the Excalibur (especially during the week), the stratosphere and the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa (a little far south but still close enough) restaurants there are so many, but your best best would be the buffets! most big hotel buffets will run you about $15-$20 per meal but hey... is all you can eat! there are places like the peppermil that are icons in Vegas or batistas italian restaurant have great value for their prices.  I hope this helps you a little :)
