Cheap, clean and beach don't really go together unfortuantely, so being close to the beach (short walk or bike ride) would be the best bet i think.

Here's  couple options in the South Bay (just south of LAX and home to some of the nicer beaches in LA).  Hotel Hermosa is on Sepulveda and Artesia, but the west facing rooms have ocean view and they offer free wifi. I've heard good things about this place and they run specials at $89/night (although i don't know dates that those deals available).  The Belamar Hotel is also on Sepulveda and this is more of business hotel, so if you're staying on a weekend, it can have some good rates, but i just checked for your dates and it's showing $260. A more "beachy" option is the  Sea View Inn At the Beach which is in North Manhattan Beach and they even have bikes you can borrow. Normally rates will be $150/night but I just checked and they aren't showing anything online, but would be worth a call.

I just did a quick search for your dates, and availablity is tight. There is a decent deal on the  Custom Hotel which is more of a hip airport adjacent hotel which is showing $145/night (normally $289) on It's an odd location (it's a drive to south bay beaches or to Venice/SantaMonica, but it is a Joie de Vivre property and those are normally nice.

L.A. beach cities like Venice and Santa Monica tend to be the collective lands of the $300+ room per night -- even the area's DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel Santa Monicaand the Holiday Inn cost about that much.

The best deals (with the cleanest rooms) in these areas can be found at the Travelodge Santa Monica Beach and Comfort Inn Santa Monica, which both cost about $150/night, and the  Venice on the Beach Hotel Los Angeles, where rooms set right on the shore start at $160.

If you're willing to stay farther south, about 10-15 minutes south of LAX, try  The Wave Hotel for about $120/night. The town is adorable, full of shopping and restaurants, with a historic pier, wide ribbon of beach, and a big volleyball and surfer scene.

If you want to stay in  Santa Monica, you should def check out the  Bayside Hotel. You can get a Garden View room for ~200 bucks and it's right on the beach.

  1. Santa Monica (city)
  2. Bayside Hotel (hotel)
