Best way to travel from LA to Vancouver

Hey Everyone

I'm going to be in The States in July and have a myriad of friends to catch up with between LA and Banff.

Which is the best way to travel from LA to Vancouver which will allow me to stop at various cities along the way?

Thanks in advance :-)

Almost the entire West coast is very scenic, so if you have the time it's a great drive. I suggest renting a car so you can stop whenever and wherever you like. Take the 101 North from LA and past Santa Barbara and continue on the Highway 1 (Pacific Coast Highway aka PCH). From here you will have a beautiful drive and you can also stop to visit the Hearst Castle on your way to the coastal town of Monterey which would be a good stop for the night.  The next day you can easily drive to San Francisco by lunch time and then regain the 5 Freeway into northen California towards Redding. On to Oregon, I suggest checking out some of the great camping available by the ocean such as Cape Perpetua, and perhaps taking time to visit hipster capital Portland. Next day on to Seattle which is beautiful and has great food and coffee to offer. Then you're just a short drive to Vancouver! Hope it helps :)

Well from Los Angeles to Vancouver is simple- just follow (basically) the I-5 north from Cali up to Van. Depends what cities you want to see. This way you can hit a few in Cali as well as Portland and Seattle. Hope this helps a wee bit.

I think your best option is going to be renting a car

If you are planning on stopping alone the way it is not a bad drive and will give you all you freedom you want.

There are so many places you might decide you want to visit once you start driving as well.  The drive from Vancouver to Banff in the summer time is as a very beautiful drive as well.  Lots of fun cities to stop on the way depending on your time and which way you decide to go.

Kelowna (Kelowna) and Penticton (Penticton) are lake side cities that are always very fun in the summer time.  Whistler (Whistler) is north of Vancouver maybe a couple hours but also very fun  and beautiful in the summer.  Of course driving through the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks (The Rockies Mountains) is very beautiful this time of the year as well.

Good Luck
