B from Melbourne asked

Accommodation - boutique with a kitchenette for 5 nights and what to do?

Heading to LA for 5 nights in Jan. Looking at west Hollywood and Santa Monica to stay preferably with rooms with a basic kitchenette? We will be travelling with my family including one child (2 1/2). What is there to do? We love yoga, shopping, restaurants, local markets. Is there much to do in a 5 hour stopover in LA airport? Have a stopover on way to canada but staying for 5 nights on way back. Appreciate your help!

thank you :)

You can easily take an Uber.com or a Lyft.com rideshare up to Santa Monica to grab some lunch beachside and walk around Third Street Promenade and Venice Beach Boardwalk  during your 5-hour stopover.  I would search for a Hostel, airbnb.com, or vrbo.com

In Santa Monica Main Street has all you are looking for. Every Sunday up until 1pm are Santa Monica Farmers Market. For yoga there is Yogaworks Santa Monica and Exhale Los Angeles - Venice. There are a ton of cool shops on the street and nice restaurants too such as Chaya Venice. For cheap and tasty Thai food there is Thai Vegan

There are lots of great vacation rental units with kitchenettes in Venice Beach like these cozy cottages at Venice Beach Eco Cottages. Try vrbo.com for more choices. You'll see yoga studios within blocks away from each other. There are farmer's markets almost every day around the area - Santa Monica has them on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, Venice Beach holds one on Friday mornings, and one on Thursday in Marina Del Rey. Abbot Kinney has cool shops and restaurants like Gjelina, Salt Air. You won't be bored!

I don't have a specific place in mind but I'm sure you can definitely find a place on Air BnB! As for what to do, if you are staying in Santa Monica, theres the Santa Monica Farmers Market every Sunday from 9:30am to 1pm. I love walking around browsing through local vendors and buying fresh cut flowers. Plus, there is a lot of shopping options around that area along the Third Street Promenade but just a warning, it is very touristy. Since you like yoga, they actually have beach yoga on Santa Monica State Beach. Brad is awesome! http://www.bradkeimach.com/beach-yoga.html
