Travel from hotel on Bath Road to London Centre

We have 24 hours in London and have booked a hotel near the airport on Bath Road.    We arrive at 10AM on Friday, July 15th and anticipate that by 12:30PM we should be ready to head into London.  Without a car, what is the best way to get to Westminster Bridge area?  Not looking to spend £100 on a taxi.

Hmm, without knowing where you are on Bath Road, it's really hard to say, because part of Bath Road has access to several underground Tube stops. I would google map your location, then look for the tube sign (red circle with a blue line across the middle). Then use the tube planner, putting in the tube station by you, then Westminster Bridge (as a location).

Hi Elizabeth,

You have a number of options, personally I would opt for the underground as it's fastest and likely to be cheapest. Your hotel is probably close to one of these tube stations: Hatton Cross, Hounslow West or Hounslow Central OR there may be a shuttle service from your hotel to and from the airport, if that's closer. You can pick up the blue line from the airport or any of the above mentioned tube stations. Westminster is on the green line and also the yellow line. I usually change at Gloucester road or South Kensington stations and pick up the green line there. The journey time is just under an hour.

This is a useful link and covers all of the public transport for London

The local buses immediately around Heathrow are free (not the Hotel Hoppa). See the map http://www.heathrow.com/file_source/Company/Static/PDF/Heathrowcommuter/travel_around_Heathrow.pdf. The Bath Road is across the top of the map.

Take the free bus into the Central Area, Terminal 5 or Hatton Cross and then get a zone 1-6 Travelcard for each member of the family. These can then be used on all underground services, and buses in London - including where you are staying!

Take the Piccadilly line from any of the above stations to Green Park. From here ....walk. Cross Green Park to Buckingham Palace, down the The Mall to Trafalgar Square, Whitehall, Parliament Square, Westminster Abbey and more. Walk over Westminster bridge to The London Eye, then back over the Thames towards Strand, Covent Garden Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus

If you have time you can get out to see St Paulsor more by the river.

London in a day! A great city, enjoy!
