Marieke from The Hague, Netherlands asked

Hi, I'm looking for hipster places (restaurants, bars, shops, party)

Hi,

It would be great if someone has ideas about hipster places in London. Not too fancy and expensive, but a hipster bar, place, restaurant, club, shop etc. would be great!

Thanks!

10 Greek St was one of my favorite meals in London. Franco Manca is unparalleled for Pizza. There's multiple locations. Across the street from the Soho location is Polpo a nice little cocktail bar that also offers tapas. St. John Bread & Wine offers a modern (read: hipster) take on classic British fare. Ottolenghi Spitalfields is a great choice for a quick solo meal or picnic lunch.

Take some time to explore Shoreditch – you'll find lots of quaint and trendy cafes, restaurants, and shops there. (Sunspel, Mast Brothers Rough Trade East, AidaLabour and WaitFor more shopping and food, also check out Old Spitalfields Market nearby.

Hi Marieke,

Shoreditch has lots of hipster, cool and quirky shops and bars. Take a look at Barrio Shoreditch and Nightjar both great for cocktails and company!  Wolf & Badger is a good place for hip clothes and objets d'art. Cargo is a club in Shoreditch, entry under railway arches. Good music.

Covent Garden also has lots of decent hipster shops and places to eat.

Dalston is a good hunting ground for hip bars and eateries, take a look at Dalston Superstore

Phoenix Artist Club is quirky and cool - go for drink and food.

Hi Marieke,

I would add Brick Lane area for great bars and vintage shops, Brixton also for similar, trendy but perhaps not as hipster as Shoreditch/Hoxton/Dalston, Islington also has some fantastic bars and restaurants particularly along Upper Street

Good luck,

Nick
