We're planning to drive from Lisbon through Andalusia in Spain, ending in Granada. Would it make more sense to drive to Madrid and fly back to U.S. from there or could we drive back a different scenic route to Lisbon passing through other towns and natural beauty? Thank you
You could, if you wished, drive back to Lisbon from Granada via Jaén, Toledo, Merida (Spain), Badajoz and Evora. But, of course, what is feasible depends on how much time you have available after your visit to Granada. It's a long journey (500+ miles) and will take a long time to drive......especially as you'll almost certainly want to stop overnight in fascinating historical places such as Toledo.
If you've got plenty of time to drive this route then fine. If not, I suggest you fly back from Madrid ....but be prepared to pay the one-way rental premium you'll almost certainly be charged (and do check beforehand that the rental company will allow one-way hire and/or Madrid drop-off).
