Transportation to Lagos- when is the best time to make reservations?

We want to take the train from Lisbon to Lagos, do we make the reservation before we leave the USA or do we want until we arrive? Which train do we take and where do we catch the train? We are staying near Cais do Sodre.

You can book the train ticket whenever you want.

I always booked ahead of time just to be safe. Long distance trains usually fill up. Use the trains site to book tickets and get times: http://www.cp.pt/passageiros/pt
