Tina Yentzer

Kitsap, Washington

What are fun things to do for 50 somethings in Vegas?

What do you recommend for two fifty-somethings spending the Fourth of July weekend in Las Vegas? We are staying at the Wynn, going to dinner at Sinatra and Le cirque. We are planning to see La Reve and Absinthe. We've already seen "Love" and "O." We have days open and one night with nothing planned. We aren't big gamblers... Thanks!

Hi Tina!! I recommend everything!!! The Strip is full of alternatives. Every single hotel has a diversity of free, affordable or expensive activity to enjoy with. You can walk through the Strip and choose from the gondola rides at The Venetian, the fountains at Bellagio Hotel, the Eiffel Tower at Paris Las Vegas, the volcano at The Mirageand so on. You must pick one of Cirque Du Soleil show. I highly recommend Zumanity, Cirque Du Soleil, The Beatles LOVE, Cirque Du Soleiland "O". At night, there are plenty of activities besides casinos. Pure Nightclub Las Vegas located at Caesars Palace has 3 venues in one. You must try it. Rainis another outstanding option. I am 100% positive that you wont regret a trip to Vegas.

PS / If you have time, I made a 1 day tour to The Grand Canyon Bus Company which is also an unforgettable experience.

    Hope this helps!!

There are tons of shows for all. Every major casino has it's own "venue" so if you're interested in shows, look up what's currently out there on sites like http://www.vegas.com/shows/.

    Views:

Eiffel Tower Experience - you can go to the top of the replica of the famous French monument.

High Roller is another "ride" where you can enjoy 30 min. of views of Las Vegas

The top of the Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower has a bar and restaurant and rotates to give you a 360 degree view of Vegas.

Afternoon tea at Tea Lounge (inside Mandarin Oriental) is another place where you can relax and enjoy views of the strip. Just pull in the valet for the hotel and tell them you want to go to the "sky lobby" and the tea lounge is right there.

    "Strip watching".

One of my favorite things to do as a local is go to one of the many restaurants that have seating right on Las Vegas Blvd and watch the people and the vehicles. Both are entertaining. Some places are Stripburger, El Segundo Sol, Diablo's Cantina.

Town Square Las Vegas is a nice area of shops and bars/restaurants fun to visit.

If you like cars, there's the Classic & Collectible Cars exhibit in the The Quad Resort & Casino

I am your age range. Go on the new Ferris Wheel near the Linq. They renovated that area and it is fun to see. Go dancing at Mandalay Bay Bar. It is fun there. Wynn has an Art Museum. Go for the helicopter rides over the Grand Canyon. There is a booking place near the Wynn by the Dennys.

So one night I'd recommend getting off the Las Vegas Strip and going to Downtown. It's long had kind of a seedy rep, but it's really turned a corner in the last couple years. There are some great museums, like the The Mob Museum and Neon Museum, which I recommend for the night tour, when some of the old neon museums light up. Also, Downtown Container Park, which is this outdoor entertainment/shopping/food complex made completely out of shipping containers. There are some great restaurants, all of which are much cheaper than the Strip, such as Vic & Anthony's Steakhouse and Hugo's Cellar, which I think you would LOVE. It's really so old-school (ladies receive a rose when they are taken to their table), and a classic Vegas experience.

I included some of these and more in an article I did on 40 things to do off the Vegas Strip:

You can go for casino and gambling.. This is the best place for gambling but beware about taxes US government charge on gambling winnings. But don't worry you can get back your refund easily with the help of Refund Management Services.
