Coming to 라오스 in July, you can visit Xieng Khouang to admire Plain of Jars Site 1 . Besides, Vientiane has many places to visit like Pha That LuangWat Si MuangSisaket Temple and Patuxay Monument. The main transport in Laos is tuk tuk.

Hi Edward, I assume you're arriving in Vientiane, the capital of Laos. Two nights is enough to visit this quiet city. You can explore by foot or bicycle, visiting the markets,  local streets, Buddha Park and the Grand Palace and Museum (Haw Pha Kaeo).

Head north to Vang Vieng for 2 nights. Van Vieng is a town surrounded by beautiful limestone caves, waterfalls and is home to the Yao and Hmong tribes. Take a bicycle tour to the Blue Lagoon or go bamboo rafting.

Next stop is Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage town with traditional Laotian wooden architecture and well-preserved 19th and 20th-century European-inspired (French) buildings. Luang Prabang is located at the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Khan Rivers offering relaxing riverside restaurants and cafes. You'll see saffron-robed monks, golden stupas and lots of Buddha statues in Luang Prabang.

I suggest 3 nights here. Don't miss out on the night markets too. Check out the night market beside the Royal Palace for locally made items and Made in China knick knacks.

I'm not familiar with the transportation options, but I would recommend using Tucan Travel for affordable tours. Their tours tend to be longer than 8 days. Another tour company is Audley Travel.

Hotel options:
Vientiane: Salana Boutique Hotel
Vang Vieng: Riverside Boutique Resort
Luang Prabang: Hôtel Sofitel Luang Prabang
