Best free things to do in Lafayette (California)?

I'm going to be in Lafayette (California) next month and will be on a pretty tight budget. I'm looking for the best free and inexpensive things to check out! I love the outdoors, art, museums, you name it. Thanks!

Hi Katie,

Lafayette is gorgeous and in the middle of miles and miles of hiking trails. Definitely check out the Lafayette Reservoir and if you're into hills and views, take the Rim Trail instead of the paved trail. You'll be close to Berkeley so make a visit to Tilden Regional Park to see the restored merry go round. There's a nice beach there too.

Walnut Creek is next to Lafayette and has an active, vibrant restaurant scene. Look at to find a group that likes music or happy hours or whatever you're into...there's sure to be a group of people with similar interests and the activities are usually free or very inexpensive.

Welcome to the neighborhood and have a fun time!
