July 2015 travel tips in La Manga?

What are recommendations for things to do in and around La Manga for a family with a teenager and pre teenagers in July? We'd prefer more local based than tourist based.

La Manga del Mar Menor   Spain

La Manga is perfect for all sports as it has a first-class sports complex with tennis, football, horse riding and many types of water sports.

Nearby is the city of Cartagena which has a naval base, famous for building submarines, Roman ruins, lovely historic buildings and seafront promenade.

Hi Heidi

when you are at La Manga, you must visit Calblanque which is a national park. The locals fought off greedy and corrupt property developers from turning this fabulous beach area into a tacky holiday resort. The other place worth visiting is Cabo de Palos which is a quaint and pretty fishing town. Whilst in Cartagena, see if you can book a sea kayaking day trip - the water is clear and warm and the coastal scenery spectacular. Enjoy your holiday!
