I'm looking for the best chai on the streets of Kolkata. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Well kolkata serves one of the best street teas anywhere in india. there are different varieties available. if you want will milk and herbs you can try the ones near Gillander house in CBD. If you are near gariahat you can try the one near shatadeep complex.(When you are entering Shatadeep Complex look right, the person will be selling teas just outside the door) he has darjeeling along with milk tea.(he uses milkmaid) Also theres one near Fortis Hospital Triangular Park. Just ask for darjeeling . Sharma in Bhowanipore and Salt Lake (Swimming Pool) is also nice but milk tea.
You can try Dolly's at Dakshinapan in Dhakuria though not street type but it has a good variety of teas. If you want to sample the Raj Era type ambience get hold of a Calcutta Club member and have the tea there. They serve in a pot with tea cosy etc. Very Good Darjeeling Tea.
Have tea in sharma chai in bhawanipore. It is the most famous chaiwala in calcutta.
