hi shaun,

choosing kenya Nairobifor your safaris is the right thing, as recommended by Milcah Kipruto (director at skyjet tours and travel ltd), Kenya's incredible diversity can't barely be captured in few sentences ,visitors flock here to witness wonderful wildlife,sunbathe on sparkling beaches,climp the snow-capped mountains,swim&dive in the idyllic clear waters of Indian ocean....."kenya !! sweetland of africa"     tourists all over the world choose kenya as their prefered       destination., in most cases kenya is being referred as     MAGICAL KENYA because of the following reasons;

  • >The only destination that combines the cradle of mankind.
  • >Kenya hosts the 8-wonder of the world,famous  wildebeest migration.
  • >home to the BIG FIVE and the SPECIAL FIVE
  • >The only destination that combines beaches,rift valley,mountains and safaris
  • >Kenya is well known for historical sites,great cultures  .......................what else....its magic destiantion.

>communities in kenya have different , ex-ordinary cultures ,well known are the maasai's, the turkanas,the samburus and the swahilis

   mode of dressing,songs,believes,rituals,possession makes this communities unique in their own way &style

>Beautiful scenery that might interests you include the Great Rift Valleyothers include Lake Turkana Mt Kenya list enless

>the coolest beaches are found in Watamu , the most voted beach in africa Malindi the real fun is here, blue sky, blue waters, sunset rays sunrise rays, oooh noo others inlude Mombasaother attractions include; historical sites Fort Jesus ,museums - Nairobi National Museum some of activies to do while in kenya safari include

Hey Shaun! You'll have a great time no matter what.  Kenya is so fascinating, and the wildlife is incredible!

I only have two recommendations:

First: check out the Elephant orphanage in Nairobi  It is expensive by Kenya standards, but it might have been the happiest hour of my whole life!! You can't watch those guys and not smile.

Second: I lucked out and went on a tour that involved 3 days of walking and 4 days of driving.  The walking safari portion was AWESOME and taught me a lot about the land and the rhythm of life that I wouldn't have seen otherwise.  We didn't see many animals up close during the walking portion, but plenty once we were driving inside the Maasai Mara National Reserve. So if you can find a safari that includes a walking portion - take it!

Awesome Emily! Elephant orphanage - check. How much walking is involved in a walking safari?

It's a lot of walking - basically a few hours in the morning and a few hours after lunch. (We walked from campsite to campsite.) But the land is very flat, the weather is perfect, and our guides were very conscious of the pace. We had a variety of fitness levels in the group, and no one seemed to find it too difficult. I'd say that the average person would have no problem. It's really just a question of whether you like walking! Oh, and remember to re-apply sunscreen!

We spend three weeks with James Robertson of Kerr and Downey. Excellent tour, costly but worth it. They take you to the areas that no one else three weeks we had only one day where we saw other safaris..other than that...Kenya was ours!
