Fine dining in Kansas City

Are there any exceptionally good fine dining establishments in KC?  I'd like to check out the gourmet food scene in these neck of the woods!

Kansas City (Missouri)

Bluestem is a good one. Chef Colby Garrelts has been deservedly nominated over and over again for Best Chef Midwest by the James Beard Foundation. The dishes are creative and delicious, a perfect spot for a special occasion.

Lidia's Kansas City is serves fantastic northern-Italian cuisine and for something lighter, Blue Bird Bistro is a vegetarian-friendly eatery on the city's eclectic Westside.

By the way, for another nice thing in Kansas City, check out the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. Beautiful new performing arts center, worth a trip just to check out the architecture.

Le Fou Frog is a French restaurant that would qualify as fine dining. Also check out Waldo Pizza (get St. Louis style crust) and for a true diner experience you have to go to  Winstead's

When in KC, you have to experience some of the best BBQ in the world.

A few places I'd recommend are Arthur Bryant's Barbeque and Gates Bar-B-Q

The American Restaurant is worth a look. It's pretty high end fine dining with a bit of an old school feel but the food is very modern and usually exceptional. It's a sports coat kind of place.
