Heading to Kansas City (Missouri) and I'm looking for the best restaurants to try while I'm visiting. Open to all types of food! What are your top places to eat?
You absolutely have to try bbq when you're there. My favorite is Arthur Bryant's Barbeque, but Oklahoma Joe's BBQ & Catering, and Q39 are fantastic alternatives.

If you are coming to Kansas City you have to get BBQ. It's what KC is known for. If you ask Kansas Citians which BBQ place is the best you will get different answers. My personal favorite is Jack Stack Barbecue - Country Club Plaza on the Plaza. With Oklahoma Joe's BBQ & Catering in a close second.

Everyone has hit the staples as far as barbecue, so I'll give you some deep cuts to try if you're looking for something eclectic.
- One of the best meals I've ever had was at The Farmhouse. The menu changes each season, so I don't know what to recommend, but the food is fresh and local and the dishes are unique and creative.
- Cafe Gratitude Kansas City is where I go to be happy. It's a vegan restaurant with menu items such as, "Heaven," "Fruitful," and "Pure." Good vibes all around.
- Barrel 31 is a cool whiskey bar that has top quality food. Oddly enough, I go for the brunch.
- If you want something a little more laid back, Grinders West is your place. It's got a well-balanced menu and plenty of character. When in doubt, go for the pizza.
Have a great stay!

For me Kansas City is all about the BBQ. Oklahoma Joe's BBQ & Catering (now Joe's Kansas City) is an absolute must (I dream about their Zman sandwich on the regular). Jack Stack Barbecue - Country Club Plaza is a close second and is a nicer, sit down and be served restaurant. The other big hitters are LC's Barbecue, Gates Bar-B-Q, and Arthur Bryant's Barbeque.
Aside from BBQ, Stroud's Restaurant is also worth a mention as it's another famous spot in KC for their fried chicken. novel Restaurant and Beer Kitchen are two other favorites.
Enjoy!
