Kailua Kona

Good places to eat and drink for group of friends near Kailua Kona

I will be in the Big Island of Hawaii, specifically Kailua Kona, at the end of May. Going with a group of friends and would like to get some recommendations for a few places that are good for local food and drinks. Any festivals/events happening around the last week of May would also be appreciated.

Try Huggo's Alii Way Kona Hawaii on Alli Way in Kailua for dinner or entertainment, Breakfast or dinner Bongo Ben's Island Cafe! They have the best Macadamia nut pancakes that I have ever ate, or any pancake for that matter! If you are looking for a reasonable place to stay check out the Royal Kona Resort, the are reasonably priced and right in the center of Kailua Kona! If you are doing tours of the big Island go through a tour operator, if you haven't already booked your trip use a travel agent who can then they can help you with which itineraries that best fit what you would like to do! Tip if you are going to see Kīlauea Volcano and are taking a tour to see it take the afternoon evening one, it shows the glow from the crater best! If you take the day one, you can't see anything but smoke!

I would recommend brunch at the King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Resort Beach.   Glass bottom boat trip.   Snorkel trip to Captain Cook Monument.   Lunch at Drysdale's Two.   Kona Mixed Plate (CLOSED) is always delicious for local food.   Body surfing at White/ Magic Sands Beach.   You will have a blast!
