I'm wondering if either Italy or Croatia would be a good vacation spot in late October. I'm not looking for beach resort types of things but just want to see some history and meet interesting people.
Italy is very nice during October, too
Grapes and olives harvesting are started, the colours of the trees and hills. Could be very nice weather, too. Who knows, if you decide I can sent you some tipes od this area, Crete Senesi area.
Hi, it is the storm season in both Croatia and Italy. For Croatia, a lot of the highlight locations are on islands, so you could be limited or be in uncomfortable sea conditions on ferries or even stuck on an island if a big storm comes through and the ferries are cancelled. Personally, I would look at Italy, where there is so much history to see on land without needing any ferry travel. While you might be a bit wet, travel will not be hampered or threatened by storm sea conditions. And perhaps you will be lucky and have brilliant weather throughout your trip, I hope so.
I've been to Italy in October; it is fantastic! I rented a car at Car Rental Milan and it gave us a possibility to visit as many cities as we could. We went to Milan, Verona, Venice, Bologna, Florence, Rome, Vatican City. We enjoyed diverse Italian food, wine, picturesque scenes all around. So even in October there is a lot to do in Italy.
