Family Trip to celebrate my parents 40th wedding anniversary

I'm planning my parents wedding anniversary get together and need somewhere that will accommodate us all. In total we have 6 adults, 5 children and maybe more by the time we go in 2015! We'd like somewhere that isn't too much of a trek on a plane is happy for us to self cater and has optionale extras like chef/washer upper for a day or can organise guides to the local attractions. Ideally it will have a pool too, nice outdoor facilities and be very child friendly. Any ideas??

I don' t know in which part of Italy you want to go but I can suggest a place in  Piemonte the name is Agriturismo La Capuccina, perfect place to celebrate, charme, little resort in the nature, incredible food, local product, very talented cook. It's between Lago d'Orta (a must see place) and  Lago Maggiore so you can organise trekking day, biking day, lie in the sun in the lake's beaches and so. There is a swimming pool and magic atmosphere. And the place is not far from Aeroporto di Milano Malpensa "Città di Milano" (MXP)

We're staying at a place in Umbria, about 2 hours north of Rome, called La Palazzetta del Vescovo, which sounds like it might work for you:

The owners have been wonderful helping us make our group arrangements (14 people) for a family trip this fall.  They can provide dinner (half board plan) as well as cooking lessons, winery tours, etc.

Other options are the agriturismos noted by others here, and VC rental sites like AirBnB and VRBO.

  2. Rome (city)
  3. La Palazzetta del Vescovo (hotel)

The many agriturismos throughout Italy and Sicily would be your best. It's an upscale bed and breakfast / farm-to-table experience and usually at a better price than most hotels in Italy.

  1. Sicily (island)
