Recommending a hotel is always tricky because we all have such different tastes and budget. I can suggest if it is your first time here then look in the neighbourhood of Sultanahmet Square or Sirkeci for the boutique hotels - then check out booking.com - it has all the reviews, prices and photos you need to help make a decision. These neighbourhoods are in walking distance to all the top old Istanbul attractions. At the moment, Neorion Hotel, Levni Hotel & Spa, Hotel Ibrahim Pasha and Hotel Amira seem to be the better of the bunch.

Stay in Cihangir Cd area. It is a cool, hip neighborhood and very close to the  old town & other attractions. Faik Pasha Hotels (Faik Pasha Suites & Apartments)

For traditional location, Sultanhamet is very close to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace etc. If you want a funkier vibe, try Beyoğlu across the Galata Bridge. The The House Hotel Galatasaray looks good although can't personally recommend. When you go, don't miss the delicious fish sandwiches from the boats by the Galata Bridge

Hello Christopher!  I have stayed at the Yasmak Sultan Hotel in Sultanahmet.  Great location and easy access to most major tourist sites, Hagia Sophia Istanbul Old CityBlue Mosque ApartTopkapi PalaceBasilica Cistern, etc.  My wife and I are going next summer and will be staying at Four Seasons Hotel Sultanahmet.  It's a former Turkish prison with about 80 rooms and, again, right near many areas of interest.  Whether either of those hotels interests you, or not, I think Sultanahmet is a great place to stay.  Enjoy Istanbul and safe travels!

For a real good experience of a boutique hotel have an overnight tour to Ephesus from Istanbulhttp://www.ephesustours.biz/live/ephesus_overnight Not only see one of the seven wonders of the ancient world but also stay at a unique boutique hotel in a typical Turkish village - http://www.ephesustours.biz/live/places_det.php?idp=113

Was there a few years ago but Yesil Ev in Sultan Ahmet is nice. Good location since you are close to a number of sites but would try restaurants in other neighborhoods.

I would also recommend Faikpasa Boutique Hotel as well. I would stay in Cihangir or Galata area as opposed to Sultanahmet area.

If you'd like us to recommend and book a hotel for you, you can reach us at Istanbulite Travel Agency
