Any advice about booking for a family group consisting of 10 people (4 households)? We'll fly coach out of Chicago in the second week of May, land in Dublin, and stay in Ireland 10 days. Is it best to have each household book separately but try for the same flight? Have someone book all of us at once? Talk to a consolidator about booking us?
They worked with us on customizing the trip and sharing the cost with another couple. As for flights, Aer Lingus was terrific out of Chicago, and booking is a snap. Coordinate your details amongst the whole group and you should be fine. If you want to sit together, then you will need to call the airline and arrange that.
Some airlines (directly) sell a limited number of seats at a low price and, when these are sold, increase prices for the next number of seats and so on. Try booking 2 first and see what price you get, then 4 and all the way up to 10. If you're very lucky you'll get the 10 for the same price per seat as if you booked 2, but probably not! I would guess that each family should book a batch. In Europe the best time to book is usually at least 21 days in advance and some low fare airlines release cheap seats after midnight. I'm not sure if the same applies in the U.S.
