Best BBQ in Houston?

Heading to Houston for a week and want to try some great bbq spots in the city. I love hole in the wall places but if it's a popular spot and has great food i'm willing to try it. Thanks

Goode Company Barbeque - multiple locations - gets all the hype but it is resting on its laurels. Overpriced.

Try Luling City Market at Richmond and I610 and a lauded newcomer Roegels Barbecue Co. You will not be disappointed.

For a real adventure and some darn good meats and service - Ray's BBQ Shack on Old Spanish Trail about 5 miles S of downtown.

This is a simple answer. It's Gatlin's BBQ in the Height's area of Houston. They are a hole in the wall and buy what they cook each day without keeping an inventory. I would make sure to get there early as there could be a line. It's not uncommon for them to run out and have to send people away.

I believe you can call ahead when they open and make an over the phone order for pick up though. I would confirm that as I can't promise anything.

If you really want good bbq, go north to the Houston suburb of Spring and eat at CorkScrew Barbecue. The pulled pork is the best I have ever had in my life. If you need to stay inside the Loop, Gatlin's BBQ is also really good. I've also heard good things about Killen's Steakhouse but have never been.

I love Rudy's Country Store & Bar-B-Q but there are only locations outside the 610 loop.  Inside the loop people like Gatlin's BBQ.
