Melinda from Toronto asked

Over-night in Honolulu- Things we can't miss?

My family and I will be visiting the city of Honolulu this April and I was just wondering what are some things that are not too expensive and good for young (10 years old) children. Thanks!

Off the top of my head if you are here April 20 or 28 there is the Iolani Carnival. That’s a great way to try local food, in addition to the usual carnival fare they offer a lot of local food too. If you are here on April 28 there is the Waikiki Spam Jam with a lot of different dishes made with spam also at the same time it’s a huge block party stretching several blocks with a lot of live entertainment.

Here are my top picks:

1. USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor

2. Diamond Head State Monument

3. Waikīkī Beach https://www.gohawaii.com/islands/oahu/regions/honolulu/Waikiki

4. Honolulu Zoo

5. Waikiki Aquarium

4. Iolani Palace, the historical landmark and restored palace in downtown Honolulu

Obviously, you can't visit them all in a day. Hope this info helps.

I suggest the Bishop Museum  There is a science section with stuff about volcanoes - some interactive things, a dinosaur section, a section on voyaging which also has interactive parts to the exhibit, and they have the feathered capes etc and a planetarium.  My grandson (age 12) found the planetarium boring, and I also had a problem staying awake

Here are some other ideas https://dontmesswithmama.com/things-to-do-on-oahu-with-kids/
