Things to do on a short weekend trip to Big Island?

First time in Hawaii and going to the big island. What would you recommend as must-see and must-do on this 4-day trip?

You will never run out of fun activities when you visit The Big Island in Hawaii. It has a beautiful rainforest where you can hike, see the lava flow in a volcano tour or swim with manta rays. And you can also pamper yourself because there's a lot of healing spas in the ocean edge of Big Island. Try these new experiences and you will enjoy your Hawaii stay for sure!

Have fun snorkeling and swimming with manta rays!

Kīlauea Volcano, take the afternoon evening tour it shows the caldera in day and night so you get to see the contrast, Kona, Akaka Falls on the Hilo side, Rainbow Falls, Umauma Falls & Zipline Experience all on the Hilo Side. The Kilauea Tour should also take you by the Punaluu Black Sand Beach and hopefully stop at the Punalu'u Bake Shop & Visitors Center and get some malasadas (Portuguese Donuts)! For additional info go to www.gohawaii.com and click on the Big Island of Hawaii tab and it tells basically everything that you would want to do,see, recreation and eats!

Visit the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park (U.S. National Park Service).  Also stop by in Hilo, HI to grab some Japanese Mochi, especially the Strawberry Mochi one... oh so ono (means yummy)!

1) Mauna Kea (you need a 4x4 to go on top by car)

2) Hang around in Kona Downtown.

3) Kīlauea Volcano (also awesome by night)

4) Hilo is also nice, but can be quite wet
