We are going to Maui as part of our honeymoon and are looking for a 5 star luxury resort, preferably adult only. Happy to spend around $500-$700 AUD per night. Does anyone have any recommendations?
I would reference Tripadvisor and find a resort that has strict rules for pool use or noise after hours. These resorts tend to be less "family friendly" and more adult oriented. Polo Beach Club has several reviews like this, likely because there are a mix of private owners and properties for rent. We were going to stay at Polo Towers, but avoided it because we had young kids with us. If it were just me and the wife, less kids would probably be more appealing so we aren't saddened by leaving them on the mainland :)
We have stayed at The Polo Beach Club on Polo Beach Wailea for 20+ years. Each condo is privately owned - selling currently for $2 million+, and there are about 70 units. Each has a full ocean view and sizeable lanai facing the ocean - just a stone's throw from the water's edge. Each has 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, a great kitchen, living room, washer/dryer, etc. Our two favorite units are typically 303 and 801, both on the South (sunny side). There is daily housekeeping service included. In the off seasons, you can negotiate with the owner - Destination Resorts Hawaii - for about $450/night. In the higher season, you'll pay about $500-$600, but don't be shy about negotiating.
While we have stayed at
Having gone to Wailea at the Holidays for a month every year, we have seen most options on the Wailea (sunny) side of the island. If the cost were warranted anywhere else, we would stay there. But the Polo is perfect in every way and - by far - our favorite.

I stayed at the Andaz Maui, in July of 2015. My opinion beautiful hotel not worth the money. Stay away. We spent over $400 on food for 2days stay. Expensive and over rated. Waited over 4 hrs for our room to be ready. While waiting over heard 3 guest complain about their room and how unsatisfactory it was.
I'd definitely suggest the Andaz Maui. While it's not adult only there are separate pool areas. We went one year before Christmas and there were no children. The next year we went at Christmas and there were noticeably more, though much less than other properties. We've visited Maui frequently and that's by far our favorite.
There are no adult only hotels in Hawaii. The most luxurious hotels on Maui would be the four seasons & fairmont Kea Lani. Having stayed at both I prefer the Fairmont.
