Kakum National Park is where you can experience a rainforest canopy walkway. Birding is wonderful at this location. Cape Coast Castle and Elmina Castle in nearby Elmina are UN World Heritage Sites and the oldest European structures in Africa. Incredible beaches are all along the coast once you have gotten away from Accra. The Volta River is a scenic and serene environment. Whether at the Volta Estuary where it empties into the Gulf of Guinea at Ada Foah or Keta, or at the river crossing at Atimpoku, site of Ghana's only steel arch bridge and the Akosombo Dam, which holds Volta Lake.
Attend one of the numerous festivals that display the drumming and dance and pageantry of this social culture.
