Tiffany from Corvallis asked

What shouldn't I miss with 24 hours in Gettysburg?

I'm traveling with three children and plan to see the main sites. Is there anything in the general area that is a must see or an off-the-beaten track delight that most tourists miss? Any local must-try foods? We are adventurous travelers in activity and food, but enjoy history, education, and photography.

Hi! The battlefields are great, but HUGE. If you just want to pass through and do something kind of cool, I would recommend getting dinner at the Dobbin House- specifically their "spring tavern" in the basement. The food is good, the waitstaff dress in period clothing, and the history of the house is really fascinating.

You have to take a little trip up Route 30 to Orrtanna and visit Mister Ed's Elephant Museum! There is something there for everyone. Old time candy and homemade fudge to buy, a great gift shop and beautiful gardens to walk through. They also have live music outside at times. It's really enjoyable and a nice trip down memory lane.
