3 days in Galway-what to do/see?

My husband and I are visiting for 3 days in March.  We love art, history, culture, music-all of it, and would love to get tips on what to see and do-we have a good sized budget for this trip.  Help!

Galway City is a very cultural city with lots of diverse music.  Many local pubs have traditional Irish music (you will hear it as you walk down Shop St and High St). The Town Hall Theatre and  Black Box Theatre are also good venues for live music and shows.  Check out  "the craic" in Galway for up coming events.

Check out the walking tours for the history of the city.  It is very easy to walk around.

The museum at the Spanish Arch is open every day, and has a lovely coffee shop.

Eat at McDonagh's at the bottom of Quay Street for the best Fish & Chips in the West.  If you like something special, try Kai Cafe and restaurant on Sea Road and O'Gradys on the Pierin Barna (one of Bono's favourite restaurants in Galway!). You wont be disappointed.

Hi Janis:

Just new to Trippy but know Galway City like the back of my hand. The best restaurants are Aniar Restaurant & Boutique Cookery School (Michelin star), Cava Bodega (Tapas), il Vicolo (Italian), Ard Bia at Nimmos (meaning High Food) and Gourmet Tart Company.

Galway is such a walkable city and you can walk from the heart of the town right out to Salthill and the beautiful bay.

I will post some cultural highlights when I am back at base.

Weather is glorious at present.

The Aran Islands and the Cliffs of Moher are two musts for Galway City. You should definitely try and make time for these two things. Cliffs of Moher doesn't require a lot of time but it is definitely one of the most breath taking views in Ireland.
