Traveling to South of France and wondering where the best central location to stay is, Nice, Cannes, etc? Wanting to do day trips to Gorges du Verdon and possibly Marseille. Thanks much! Also, if anyone has any good suggestions for a day trip company to see Gorges du Verdon? Thanks!
If you want to be away from the crowds look into the Welcome Hotelin Villefranche - faces the sea and several fun outdoor restaurants right on the street. Ten minutes to Nice. We stayed there for a week and had a great time.
I second the Hotel Welcome in Villefranche-sur-Mer. We've stayed there twice and it's a great little hotel right on the port. Villefranche is a charming place to stay with good transportation connections to all the coastal cities by car, bus or train. If you want something less expensive, take a look at the Hotel De La Darse. I have not stayed there, but it gets very good reviews and is only a short walk from the center of town.
