Driving with my husband. On second day we Would like to stop in Charlotte NC for 2 nights then drive to MD just stopping for short breaks

Not sure where you want to visit in Maryland, but here's a starting point for a route through Charlotte:

If you want to drive 10 hours the first day, you could get to Charlotte, then stay for 2 nights and do the last 7 hour drive to MD from there.
