We are looking into spending a month in a beach town in SW Florida next February.
We've been to Marco Island, which was lovely, but not a whole lot to do.
Which towns offer the best of both...nice beaches plus some interesting shopping and restaurants closeby? We thought that Naples was nice, but we've heard that it's crazy busy in February.
Thank you for any advice!
Sarasota. Many hotels downtown, St. Armands circle upscale shopping and restaurant district, hotels out on Longboat Key and in the city. Try Chart House and Marina Jacks award willing restaurants. Tour boats go out of the marina for dinner cruises and sightseeing. Beautiful beaches, city nightlife, artist community. Nearby Salvador Dali museum, Ringling museum, frequent tent sales and juried art- - - paintings, sculpture, jewelry.
Key West is a lot of fun and always a lot to do. My favorite place there is the Ernest Hemingway Home & Museum--so interesting if you like him. There are tons of restaurants--we ate at one called Hot Tin Roofand loved it.
