>If you do not have E-ZPass, an image of your license plate is captured and a Toll Bill is mailed to the registered owner’s address on file with DMV.
The bill won't include any discounts and may include admin charges. Imo, it's probably easier to get the pass.
'Best' is always a matter of personal preference. The route below is about 680 miles, taking a minimum of 11.5 hours without traffic congestion/road construction issues or forr, fuel & rest stops.
1.  From Florence (South Carolina) follow I-95 north passing through or near Fayetteville (North Carolina)RichmondWashington, DCBaltimore until you meet  I-295 south of Wilmington (Delaware). Take I-295  east.
2.  Follow I-295/NJ Turnpike then continue on I-95/NJ Turnpike.
At Goethals Bridge  take I-278 east.
4. Leave I-278 in Fort Hamilton then take Belt Parkway east, passing through or near Bath BeachBergen Beach and Laurelton (New York). At junction 25A take Southern State Parkway east.
5. Follow Southern State Parkway, passing through or near Malverne Park Oaks and North Merrick. Go left to take 135 north.
6. Follow 135 north (Seaford-Oyster Expressway) to junction 12E then take a right onto Northern State Parkway.
Leave Northern State Parkway at Melville and take 110 north.
8. Follow 110 north through Huntington Station (New York) to Huntington. Go right on Huntington Main Street/25A.
9. Follow 25A for about 3.5 miles then go left onto Little Neck Road to Centerport.

Thank you Mary. We were able to purchase an EZ-Pass at the Maryland Welcome Center and had followed these directions precisely. Safely arrived in the Island. Must admit I forget how crazy NY drivers can be lol. Thanks again! · (1 like)
