This is maybe a quite odd question..
looking for a place to go this February for a few nights in Europe (departing from Berlin so most places are probably easily accessible) to fit following criteria:
does it make sense to go to a tree-house hotel thing in the winter?
does it make sense to go hot air ballooning in the winter?
West Cork in Ireland is a great place to visit, *almost* any time of year! It has the most beautiful coastline, lovely little villages and amazing seafood restaurants. Great surfing and Kayaking too. You can rent a tree house near Skibbereen in West Cork, take a look at:
You won't be slumming it by any means and you'll have your own hot-tub, comfy bed etc and it's a lovely part of Ireland.
There's a company in Skibbereen that specialises in night-time moonlight Atlantic sea kayaking which I have heard is truly unforgettable! Checkout: http://www.atlanticseakayaking.com/west-cork-moonlight-night-time-trip.html
There is also an active hot-air ballooning scene here but alas it is weather dependent and the weather in Feb is not always conducive to the calmness needed for ballooning, so it cannot be guaranteed then. It is possible to take a balloon ride from Adare Manor Hotel and Golf Resort near Limerick and there are regular flights from Berlin Schonefeld to Shannon Airport which is a short drive from Adare - another fab village with amazing restaurants and nice places to stay and about 2.5 hours from Skibereen by car.
This is the website for ballooning in Ireland: www.balloons.ie
