Dublin, Galway, Ireland

How is the shopping scene in Dublin and Galway?

I love to shop when I travel to get a taste of local fashion trends in clothing and of course always looking for smashing deals.  Any clues?

That depends! Dublin and Galway City have all the UK, Swedish and Spanish chain stores on the main streets. You can find H&M, Zara, Gap, Cos, French Connection, Massimo Dutti and lots more. Brown Thomas is a large, more upmarket, department store which stocks both Irish & International designers. Here you can buy your Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Prada and Louboutins. There are plenty of small boutiques dotted around the place too and the Kilkenny shop stocks a variety of Irish design - clothes, jewellery, pottery, glass etc. There is a designer outlet in Kildare (about 45 minutes from Dublin) where you can buy lots of brand names. The best news for you is that the dollar is very strong against the Euro - almost on par now so your money will go a long way. Enjoy!

I almost forgot Dundrum shopping centre, which is a short bus or tram (Luas) ride out of Dublin city. It has a huge array of shops including House of Fraser, Harvey Nichols, Hobbs and lots and lots of restaurants.

Hi there is Grafton Street where you will find Brown and Thomas with famous brands.

On the other side of River Liffey in O'Connell Street you can find cheaper brands.

If you want to buy nice traditional products like irish sweaters, scarfs, crystal and waterford Christmas balls head to Nassau St close to Trinity College.

In the center of Galway City you will also find small interesting shops.

Enjoy your stay in beautiful Ireland!
