My friend and I are going on a two week trip in August spending 4 days in each city/country. What neighborhoods are recommended to stay in? What are the must do things to see in each location? Best places to eat(no seafood-yuk!)? We'll be travelling by train so any tips on that would also be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Dublin (Ireland) London (United Kingdom) Paris (France) Madrid (Spain)
In Dublin I suggest you either stay in the city centre near Christchurch Pl or Dublin Castle (there are many Airbnb places near there) or somewhere on the Dart line (urban coastal train) like Ballsbridge Clontarfor Blackrock) Dublin is a pretty small city but it's beautifully located on the coast with Dublin and Wicklow mountains nearby. There's lots to see in the city (take a hop on hop off bus to get your bearings) but try to take the Dart train along the coast for a day trip or, if you have a car drive to Glendalough in the Wicklow mountains or walk the Bray (Ireland) to Cliff Rd. Don't miss St.Stephen's Green and Phoenix Park to catch some sun (it doesn't always rain) and try to take in the three art galleries: National Gallery of Ireland, Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane and Irish Museum of Modern Art at Kilmainham. The music scene in Dublin is really good too.

For me in London, it has to be Kensington, near Hyde Park and easy access to the center on London. 🇬🇧
In Paris, it has to be Quartier Du Marais or Saint-Germain-des-Prés, near everything. Enjoy ! 🇫🇷

Hello Irene,
I will write you about Madrid. Madrid is good time for this city, so many things to do, to visit and do. Fisrt some area where to stay, of corse depends a lot of your budget but in general I will tell you few of them: around Puerta del Sol (gran Via, Huertas); nice hotels in Castellana and Salamanca
what to do and visit.
Museo del Prado, Parque del Retiro, Puerta de Alcalá, Cibeles, Banco de España, Gran Vía, Fuencarral, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Opera, Plaza de Oriente, Royal Palace of Madrid, Plaza de España, Templo de Debod.
Salamanca, La Latina, Huerta Uno.

In Paris, my favourite neihborhoods to stay are Quartier Du Marais (look around the métro stations St Paul's and Hôtel de Ville), Latin Quarter/Saint-Germain-en-Laye (around métro stations Odéon, St Germain and St Michel, but a little more touristic)
Marais: go get a bottle of rosé and some french cheese and eat it at Place des Vosges. Go drink a coffee on the terras of Chez Julien. Visit all the vintage shops. Finish the night at La Perle with "une carafe de vin rouge".
Odéon/St Gemain: Have drinks at night at the cocktailbar Prescription Cocktail Club. Or at la Palette if you want to be very French. My favourite restaurant here is Le Germain Paradisio, very hip! Or any restaurant in the area of Odéon, rue de Buci. There is the cutest little street next to the Le Relais Odéon right when you get out of the métro!

In Paris the best neighborhood is the Quartier Du Marais. It's central, it's the heart of the city, and is home to/close to several main attractions in the city. Not to mention the fabulous food! I spent two years living in Paris and my six months by the Marais were by far the best.
Speaking of which, you should try the seafood in any of those cities, but especially Ceviche in London. Might change your mind on the "yuk" factor.
I've spent time in numerous neighborhoods in London, and my favorite was still Islington, by Angel. Bit quieter, still great pubs and food options, and close to the canal.

Hi Irene! Sounds like a great trip ahead of you. In Paris I would recommend to stay in the Quartier Du Marais. You will be close to everything from here and be in one of the best neighbourhoods for dining and shopping. That being said you can stay nearly anywhere in Paris because the city is small and safe, and public transportation is very friendly and fast. The only neighborhoods I would recommend you stay away from with AirBNB because their are too far away, less interesting, or less authentic would be the 19th arrondissement, 20th arrondissement, 16th arrondissement, 17th arrondissement, 13th arrondissement, and 15th Arrondissement. There is absolutely nothing wrong with these areas, I just would say they are less ideal for visiting as a tourist. In addition to the Marais I would recommend the 1st arrondissement, 2nd arrondissement,6th Arrondissement, 9e arrondissement, and 11th arrondissement of Paris as the best areas for an Airbnb and central location. Have a great trip!

I lived in London for a year and have since gone back to visit and used airbnb, so I might be able to help! If you want more bang for your buck and want a true London experience, try Hackney, Shoreditch, or Dalston. They are still considered central London but have more character, and you'll probably have a younger local host. Also those areas are super fun to explore (don't miss brick lane market, spitafields, and Columbia road flower market) and London public transport is incredibly easy to use. At least have a look at airbnb reviews for places in those areas and see if you like what you see!
