Emily from Chicago asked

Where are the best areas to relax in Dubai?

Looking for a relaxing time. Have 3 nights and 4 days on my own before my work meeting that is in the Dubai Creek Heights area. I have been told to spend some time in the marina area? Any suggestions? Don't want over extravagant or low end. Middle of the road and good time. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Dubai (United Arab Emirates)

If you are traveling any time soon it will be a little too hot to spend too much time outdoors so the best bet would be to book a spa day in one of Dubai's many resorts. Several beach resorts in Dubai offer half-day spa packages that combine a spa treatment with use of the wet spa facilities, pool and beach areas and sometimes lunch or a bite in their pool bars. Several resorts have indoor pools as well.

You can check out the offers page of any resorts that appeal to you and you can often find great deals.

Jumeirah Beach Residence is also a fun area to spend some time in. You can visit The Walk or The Beach which both have plenty of restaurants and places to browse through. Galleria Mall or City Walk is also a good place to spend some time grabbing breakfast and wandering around the stores.

Dubai Marina is a good place to visit in the evening with areas such as Pier 7 offering several licensed restaurants and Downtown Dubai is definitely worth visiting although it will be more crowded especially in the evening.

Hope you enjoy Dubai!

Thank you Radhina! I will be traveling in mid November, hopefully the temperatures will be cooler at that time! I found a hotel called JA Ocean View that looks to be close to your suggestions. Plan to look into the beach residence you mention. Your help is really appreciated.

You are very welcome Emily! The area in which you have your meeting is in Old Dubai (a fair commute from JBR and Dubai Marina so you may be better off picking a hotel closer to where you will be working, if you don't fancy the drive every morning.) There are areas in the older part of the city that are also good to wander around in the morning - The Souks are generally quieter earlier in the day and Creekside Cafe is one of my personal favourites to grab a bite by the waterfront http://creeksidedubai.me/ In November you can also easily head to one of the parks. Zabeel Park has a fun market on in the cooler months. You can check out http://www.ripeme.com/ripe-market closer to the date to see if it is on when you are in town.
