A few friends and I are going to Dubai to explore the United Arab Emirates' culture, and we are on a budget. What are the best free or cheap museums, outdoor activities, or other fun things to do?
You can go for the Dhow Cruise Dubai Marina, it's cheaper and an unique experience.
Go for Desert Safari, moderate price and worth going for.
Al Mamzar Beach Park in Dubai is a good place to hang around in an evening!
Hang around The Dubai Mall and enjoy the fountain dance in front of the Burj Khalifa.

Dubai Museum is cheap and cheery and the whole area around it (Al Fahidi Heritage Area) is also a great place to wander around for a taste of Old Dubai. The Spice and Gold Souq are also free while an abra (traditional boat ride) down Dubai Creek is a fun way to get from one bank to the other and is only AED1.
Visits to Jumeirah Mosque are AED10 and you can find more information here:

In the cooler months, you can check out the market held at Zabeel Park or if you have access to a 4x4, drive into the dunes next to Fossil Rock or the ghaf tree forest in Ras Al Khaimah for a sunset BBQ.
The art galleries at Dubai International Financial Centre and Alserkal Avenue often have open gallery nights that are worth checking out - Dubai International Financial Centre for the glam art squad and Al Serkal Building for live performances on certain art nights.
In new Dubai, there are running tracks along Jumeirah Beach and the Memorial Fountain is also definite worth a visit - with free performances every half hour in the evening.
