Hello! On our way to Bangkok we will have a layover of about 15 hours in Dubai (7AM - 22PM). What are the essentials we could see in this time? We thought about taking a tour on top of Burj Kahlifa, is it worth the 30$? Also we need to leave our bags somewhere - are there lockers at the airport or is it possible to already check-in our luggage once we arrive? Thanks a lot!
Sadly you probably won't have time to do a desert safari, which is he absolute best thing to do in Dubai. But yes, go up the Burj Khalifa (if you can book a suitable slot) & have a look at the The Dubai Mall whilst you're there (see the fountains if possible too) Then if you have time ride the monorail, maybe get to a beach, see the marina.........

Emirates Airlines seems to have left luggage facilities at Terminal 3 http://www.emirates.com/english/plan_book/essential_information/baggages/baggage_services_dubai.aspx but not sure if you have access to this when flying through any of the other non-Emirates terminals.
Based on the time you have in the city it would be worth heading to Old Dubai (the Creek,Deira Spice Souk, Al Fahidi St District) during the day and then perhaps visiting the Jumeirah Beach area (somewhere like the Jumeirah Fishing Harbour (non-licensed) or Madinat Jumeirah for lunch.
If you can get a slot around sunset it is a great time to visit the Burj Khalifa and check out both the day and night time view (if it isn't a hazy day) and the Dubai Fountain also starts up at night, every half hour. There are plenty of places to eat at in the nearby The Dubai Mall, at the neighbouring The Address Downtown Dubai or on Mohammed Boulevard.
My personal favourites in this link (not all of them would be doable in 15 hours but there are a few more details on spots to eat in etc. here)

15 hours is not a bad time to see good places in Dubai. Go to Burj Khalifa, The Dubai Mall, Jumeirah Beach Residence and Madinat Jumeirah
I guess two hours each will be enough, there are plenty of restaurants to drink/eat. Try all of them!
enjoy

We had a 8 hour layover so we hired a local taxi from the hotel who drove us to all the major sites in 4 hours. Burj Al Arab and Burj Khalifa are a must. If you have time see the Atlantis, The Palm and the marina also.

Hey, Burj Khalifa is a must visit but you should plan for an evening slot or a night one (I prefer sunset to get the best view). Also, the fountain show in The Dubai Mall (the largest mall) is great to see. Either you can see this side or head to Jumeirah - creek, beach, Burj al arab. You'll find great eateries at both places.
The Bur Dubai and Burj Khalifa cannot be missed. I suggest you take the Big Bus tour so that you can see the sights. If you want to buy some Gold, stop by the Gold Souq in Bur Dubai.

Yes, trip to Burj Khalifa is a good option and worth a visit. Along with the same, you may also have a desert safari for 1 hour. You may also have a doha cruise in the evening.
