1. Whether you are allowed one-way hire from Bruges to Copenhagendepends entirely on the car hire company concerned. You will need to contact companies directly in advance and check this out. You will almost certainly pay a hefty premium for one-way hire.

2.  Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands and Germany are all in the Schengen Area, so there are no formal border controls between each country.

However, each EU and/or Schengen country has its own driving laws and requirements. You should make sure that you are familiar with what is required in each country you will pass through, especially in the way of equipment to be carried in the vehicle.

3. You should also check whether you would be best advised to get an International Driving Permit. A IDP acts as a legal translation of your own driving licence. If you are an EU citizen an IDP is not required to drive in other EU countries but if you are from elsewhere then it is worth investigating. You must obtain an IDP from your own country before a trip starts.

4. will give you route, route information, route alternatives and estimated driving times. Always allow extra time to deal with congestion, roadworks and suchlike.

Mentioned in this answer:

  1. Bruges (city)
  2. Copenhagen (city)
  3. Netherlands (attraction)
  4. Germany (attraction)
